Overview of Seismic Data Processing

Overview of Seismic Data Processing: GES001- 10 Days

Audience

  • Entry level for both geologists and geophysicists
  • Geophysical research scientists are also welcome, especially those who have not mastered this broad field.

Purpose

The overall purpose of this course is to introduce entry level and/or junior Geophysicists and Geoscientists the seismic processing concepts and principles from the Reformat to the Migration

Learning Objectives

Upon the completion of this course the participant will be able to:

  • To gain an understanding of the geological situations in which hydrocarbons form.
  • To provide with theoretical information about: definition of terms, surface waves, body waves, signal theory, reflection, refraction, diffraction, amplitudes and the decibel scale.
  • To introduce the concept of ‘geometry’ and its significance in Data Processing.
  • Noise Attenuation.
  • Deconvolution and Multiple Attenuation.
  • Velocities , Statics and Migration
